Two pieces of news which made one smile:
CJ not to hear Bahria Town cases (22.6.12)
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftiklhar Muhammad Chaudhry has detached himself from the hearing of Bahria Town cases.
According to a court order issued during the Bahria Town guard murder case, contempt of court proceedings were underway against Malik Riaz who had spoken out against the Chief Justice and the judiciary. There have been allegations leveled against the Chief Justice by Malik Riaz which is why he (Chief Justice) will not hear cases against Bahria Town, the order said. Later the court adjourned hearing of the Bahria Town guard murder case till June 25.
(About this, one should note our CJ seems to have developed a superb sense of timing in what he's doing. Also, Malik Riaz had been given another seven days to find himself a lawyer to defend him in the contempt of court case pending against him. It seems no lawyer is now willing to fight the ex-King of Pakistan's cause at the moment).
PPP nominates Raja Pervaiz Ashraf as PM candidate
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and its coalition partners have nominated Raja Pervaiz Ashraf for the post of prime minister, Geo News reported Friday.
(Fine! If this nomination is confirmed, we are going to have a splendid time of it on 27.6.12 when IK comes out for the first time with the public in a "load-shedding" protest march. The man behind the whole fiasco should now be the PM of Pakistan. Happy days ahead! Really, PPP seems to have lost all sense of proportion, which is all to the good for the future of the country.)

June 21, 2012 - Three parties scramble for PM slot
Islamabad: Three members of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have filed nomination papers for the election of the new Prime Minister, while two opposition parties have also jumped into the contest.
Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Qamar Zaman Kaira and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf filed their nomination papers for the ruling PPP.
Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz’s (PML-N) Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan Abbasi have also filed their nomination papers.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman called on Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid (PML-Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to convass support for his candidature.
An Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) Magistrate had earlier issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Makhdoom Shahabuddin, whose prospects to become the PPP’s main nominee have now dwindled.
The speaker will scrutinise the nominations in the presence of the candidates, their proposers and seconders within an hour after the nominations are filed to her office.
Voting for the new prime minister will take place at 5:30 pm on Friday.
In brief remarks at the national assembly, Shahabuddin showcased his loyalty by thanking Zardari and extending greetings to members of the PPP on the birthday of his late wife.
“I am thankful from the bottom of my heart (to Zardari),” he told reporters.
“Today is a special day because it is Benazir Bhutto’s birthday and I send my congratulations on this birthday to all party workers,” he added.
The Awami National Party (ANP) has announced its support for PPP candidate Makhdoom Shahabuddin and says that all 13 party representatives will vote for him on Friday.
The unanimous decision was taken during a parliamentary party session in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.
Also speaking to the media separately, the JUI-F chief said that his party was aware of their numbers in the assembly, but the PPP and PML-N should think over their decisions. He added that the current condition of the PPP could push the country towards a martial law.
Both Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) have been in talks with coalition and opposition parties. The PML-N has reached out to other parties in Parliament to garner support against the ruling party.
Under the Constitution, only a Muslim member of the National Assembly can contest for the office of prime minister, and has to be elected by a majority of the 342-member lower house of parliament, which comes to 172 votes. The PPP-led coalition enjoys a comfortable majority to secure the votes for its candidate to get elected.

I am not in the business of Fortune Telling but sometimes one has to try and so here it goes...........
Within the next 2-3 months this govt will be history-( CJ and supreme court has already fixed the date June 27th for the Swiss letter requirement) with arrest of all these jokers.......and I mean all of them.
The Army will NOT intervene directly but will back the new set up.
The powers that be will try to get IK to agree to lead a temporary technocratic set up....
but they expect that he will not cooperate..........so IK will probably miss the boat. The main reason is that intelligence shows that any election held whenever will return the same faces as they have collected a tremendous War Chest by their looting with which they will buy the election and if allowed they will succeed in their nefarious plans.
A logistical plan has tol be put in place whereby all the exit points will be under control and no escape will be permitted.
A tribunal will examine the wrongdoings, catalogue them, try the criminals and very severe punishments-( a La Guillotine-( my Dream)- will be handed down after the looted money has been recovered.

I like what your tea leaves are telling you and they might well be proved to be right. Except for one small point. I doubt IK will turn down any offer to lead the country even if the circumstances are not quite what he expected them to be. He may be an idealist himself, his advisors number quite a few realists This is not the time to be looking to one's own visions, but that of rushing to the aid of this country drowning in corruption. You mention June 27. We await with bated breath what IK's Faisalabad march will bring about.
