Spoke with an established long time PTI worker this morning.
Here is the gist of the conversation.
This is a report of happenings on the ground.
Everywhere , in every city PTI is splitting into two or more factions at the local level.
Those that have been with the party for long time and the newcomers.
The newcomers have the money as a lot of those that are otherwise called "INVESTORS" are moving into this new political party.
As they say MONEY talks and thus they have or in the process of taking over the reins of the party with the result that the morale amongst the workers is sinking.
Imran still holds an IKON like position in the party but those under him- well have become the source of discord amongst the party workers.
They have not seen any action from SMQ or anyone else -( recent additions)-on a party organizational level.
He said that this Monday or Tuesday there is going to be a party CEC meeting and perhaps some these issues hopefully maybe discussed.
How is this problem going to play in light of the coming elections?
Not very well as a great deal of organization and planning is going to be required of the lower echelons of the party workers if they are to have any chance to beat the likes of PML-N and PPP-( combined ?)-
On the two issues that are often referred to by Imran- namely Shaukat Khanum Hospital and Namal University, the party worker said the following-
Quote
" In the hospital and the university you were dealing with educated and trained people who were dedicated to the single cause and all they really needed was the injection of funds and one single idea and it was those people that made it possible for those institutions to flourish and succeed. In the political party arena one has to deal with very different type of people whose interests are diverse. Planning ahead of time is of essence in this case which has not been done- partly due to lack of planning and partly due to the sudden un-planned inrush of a very large number of new members into the party organization." end of quote.
He added - Quote
" that just because Shaukat Khanum has done well and Namal Univ. has done well is not the correct example to use as a guarantee of success for the PTI and it's agenda.
First we have to win the election. Can we do that with the workers split into factions already?
I do not think so.
We cannot do that if the party workers are disenchanted which they are today.
I am myself quite depressed with the way things have developed in recent weeks" end of quote.
